Rage Against the Dying Light

 Prologue

The village nestled beneath the cliffs,
Where winds howled fierce and tales would shift.
A place where time both crawled and flew,
And men faced choices stark and true.

In the shadow of their final breath,
They defied the looming touch of death.
"Do not go gentle," they’d declare,
For life was fire, not despair.

Chapter 1: The Old Sailor

By the harbor stood Captain Roan,
His body frail, his strength near gone.
Once he tamed the wildest seas,
Now he leaned on gnarled trees.

The waves called out, a siren's song,
“Your time is over; you don’t belong.”
But Roan, with eyes like stormy skies,
Growled his reply, defying lies:

“Do not go gentle, oh raging sea,
Your tides have not the strength to bury me.
I’ll face your wrath, I’ll stand and fight,
And rage against the dying light.”

Chapter 2: The Widow

In a cottage draped in ivy’s grip,
Lived Greta, her world a sinking ship.
Her love long gone to war’s cruel game,
But her heart still burned, a steady flame.

Neighbors whispered, “Let it be,
Grieve no more, set your spirit free.”
But Greta, with a voice so clear,
Answered back with stubborn cheer:

“I will not bow to time’s cruel hand,
My love still walks this broken land.
Do not go gentle; I’ll ignite,
And rage against the fading light.”

Chapter 3: The Forgotten Poet

On the hill, a poet dwelled,
His verses once by all upheld.
But fame had faded, dreams turned gray,
And words seemed harder every day.

Yet the moonlight cast its silver glow,
And stirred the fire deep below.
He scrawled his lines with trembling hand,
A final shout, a last demand:

“Do not go gentle; let words take wing,
Let echoes of my passion sing.
I’ll fill the night with all my might,
And rage against the dying light.”

Chapter 4: The Young Dreamer

A boy named Sam, with a voice so bright,
Dreamed of stars and endless flight.
But a sickness stole his strength away,
Leaving him to battle night and day.

Doctors sighed, “The end is near;
Let peace replace your dreams and fear.”
But Sam, with fire in his core,
Declared a truth they couldn’t ignore:

“I’ll dream beyond this fleeting pain,
For in my heart, the stars remain.
Do not go gentle; I’ll take flight,
And rage against the dying light.”

Chapter 5: The Village United

One by one, their voices grew,
A chorus fierce, a storm anew.
Roan, Greta, the poet, Sam,
And others joined where once they ran.

They stood as one beneath the sky,
Refusing to let their spirits die.
“Do not go gentle!” they would cry,
“Let fire burn as we defy!”

Epilogue

The cliffs still stand, the winds still roar,
But their defiance lives forevermore.
For in each heart that hears their fight,
Burns a spark against the night.

Do not go gentle, this they knew,
Life’s flame is brief, but burns so true.
So rage, dear soul, with all your might,
And shine against the dying light.
